Paul has a keen interest in Agile processes and the non-human elements that affect those processes. He brings this focus to both his coaching and custom software assignments at Cyrus Innovation. As Tech Lead for a Cyrus development team at Boston Capital, a major financial services client, Paul asked such questions as: what are the client's objectives; how can the team's process be more Agile; where is each developer at in implementing effective Agile practices; why does the location of the project board change?
"It's important to keep asking questions," says Paul, "to help a team in its quest for continuous improvement and, for example, tighten information flows between users and the development team. The client then gains trust in the team, and the developers are even more motivated because they know who they're helping."
Paul began programming professionally in 1997 for Papyrus, a start-up developing a low-cost document management system. From 1999 to 2001, he gained experience as a web developer for Off the Page. He's been helping reengineer clients' development processes with Agile principles since 2001, when he was a technical consultant for Access Data. In 2002 he began coaching developers at Widen Enterprises, and joined Cyrus in 2005.
Paul holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin. He blogs at http://www.infield-harm.org/blog.
